Welcome to Turkey Point, ON!
Turkey Point is a beach community located on the north shore of
Lake
Erie in southwestern
Ontario.
Although named after a once abundant number of wild turkeys in the area, today
this thriving town is perhaps best known for clean sandy beaches, lush parks and
upscale cottages. Situated in close proximity to large city centres such as
London,
Hamilton and
Toronto
makes this village a perfect summer get away for many of the larger city residents.
In comparison, for those who permanently call Turkey Point home, an hour or two
long drive will result in a day trip to the big city. Visitors and residents alike
can enjoy the wildlife viewing, the rolling landscape and fresh water of Lake
Erie at
Turkey
Point Provincial Park. This park is the only Ontario provincial park that
encompasses a golf course.
The
Backus Heritage Conservation Area gives those seeking knowledge pertaining
to the history of nature's path in the area and its possible future. The park
also provides a campground, nature walks and a learning interpretive centre. The
Turkey
Point Summer Fest is one of the highlights of the season and takes place in
mid August, showcasing a variety of music arts and family events.
